What is eFTI?
eFTI, the electronic Freight Transport Information framework, is an EU initiative that enables operators to share regulatory transport information with authorities in a digital, standardised way. The intent is to reduce paper-based processes and make required information easier to exchange and verify.
At a high level, eFTI relies on operators being able to produce consistent, structured data about a movement on demand.
What is ICS2?
ICS2, the Import Control System 2, is the EU’s advance cargo information and customs pre-arrival security and safety programme. It requires advance, accurate data about goods entering the EU customs territory so risk assessment can happen before arrival.
As with eFTI, the practical challenge is data quality and : the right structured information, available at the right time.
